"Full Coverage" Plan
Dear Customer,
Thank you for purchasing “Full Coverage”, the AI Booking Travel Excess Refund product.
Your car group carries an insurance excess in the event of damage to or theft of the rental vehicle. Please note that this product is NOT an insurance excess waiver. It does not remove the need to leave a credit card deposit in the lead driver’s name, and you must have sufficient available funds to cover the excess, as this amount will be pre-authorised on your card. (The excess amount is shown on your car rental voucher, in the Excess and Deposit section.)
If the car is damaged or stolen, the local supplier will deduct part or all of the excess from the lead driver’s card. The amount of the excess depends on the vehicle size and the supplier.
With “Full Coverage”, you will be able to claim a refund for the following if your car is damaged or stolen:
- Excess refund (up to $4,000)
- Bodywork damage and scratches
- Wrong or frozen fuel
- Windows, glass and windscreens
- Tyres, rims and wheels
- Undercarriage
- Roof
- Key replacement (up to $500)
- Towing (up to $1,000)
- Aerials
Exclusions
You will not be covered in the following cases:
- Where the rental vehicle has been driven off-road, on unpaved roads, or without due care and attention, or where any law enforcement agency has deemed the driving negligent or careless.
- Where the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Where the driver has not been named on the rental agreement.
- Where damage is caused by the rental vehicle being towed away by an unauthorised third party.
- Traffic and parking fines, and any admin fees relating to these charges.
- Where the car is stolen due to negligence, e.g. keys left in the car.
- Prestige car hire (not eligible).
- Damage caused by gravel, sand or ash.
- Where the customer is found to be negligent under the supplier’s terms and conditions.
- Where a police report was required by the rental company and was not filed.
Important: Police Report
In the event of an accident, vehicle damage, break-in, vandalism or theft, many rental companies require, under the terms of the rental agreement, that the incident be reported to the local police in the country where it occurred and that proof of the report be provided. If a police report is not filed as required, the rental company may charge the full cost of the damage and not only the excess. In such a case, we will not be able to refund you under “Full Coverage”.
We therefore recommend that you check your rental voucher and the supplier’s terms and conditions to see whether a police report is required, and file the report as soon as possible, before returning the vehicle. If in doubt, please contact us at service@aibookingtravel.com.
Insurance Offered at the Rental Desk
Please note that purchasing “Full Coverage” does not include any insurance offered to you when you collect your vehicle. The local supplier may offer insurance options that reduce or eliminate your excess. If you choose to accept any of these options, you will not be able to claim back the cost of any insurance signed for and accepted locally.
Making a Claim
To make a claim, please email your details to service@aibookingtravel.com.
Please provide as much information as possible, together with copies of all relevant paperwork. Damage reports, police reports, repair invoices and credit card statements will help speed up the handling of your claim. Where the rental company requires a police report, a copy of the report must be included with your claim.
Please note that “Full Coverage” is not an insurance policy but a service provided by AI Booking Travel.
Successful claims will be paid within 28 days of receipt. Claims involving third parties may take up to 45 days to resolve
